Wanted to update this thread- I bought a 7 degree taper reamer from member Julesthegreat, and it worked out nicely.. If you're considering moving your tie rods to the top of your Miata steering arms and are a bit intimidated, don't be- it worked out very well.. I heated the arms and bent them to level (they moved very easily once hot- I'm now using 1993 Mazda 323 tie rod ends that don't have the funky Miata bend as was suggested by Dave Hempy), and the taper just glided through the hole to give me the tie rod end seat I needed.. Honestly nice to have this mod behind me- I was worried about screwing it up.
If anyone needs it, I can sell you the reamer- maybe 40-ish dollars is fair?? It's now cut (4) holes and seems to be as sharp and effective as new.. Once you're done, just do as Jules and I have, knock a few bucks off what you paid, and let the next guy have it
