Ok- seems to be my turn for this mod.. Do you have a 7 degree (Miata tierod end flip) taper to loan? I'm in Bakersfield, Ca. I am of course happy to pay shipping to and from; and will have it back to you within 10 days..

Thanks

Wanted to update this thread- I bought a 7 degree taper reamer from member Julesthegreat, and it worked out nicely.. If you're considering moving your tie rods to the top of your Miata steering arms and are a bit intimidated, don't be- it worked out very well.. I heated the arms and bent them to level (they moved very easily once hot- I'm now using 1993 Mazda 323 tie rod ends that don't have the funky Miata bend as was suggested by Dave Hempy), and the taper just glided through the hole to give me the tie rod end seat I needed.. Honestly nice to have this mod behind me- I was worried about screwing it up.

If anyone needs it, I can sell you the reamer- maybe 40-ish dollars is fair?? It's now cut (4) holes and seems to be as sharp and effective as new.. Once you're done, just do as Jules and I have, knock a few bucks off what you paid, and let the next guy have it 8)

I still haven't found one of these -- anyone have one they'd be willing to loan out?

Otherwise, maybe I could make a deal with someone where I would buy one and then sell it to them at reduced cost after I'm done?

Thanks,
Ben

So, due to lack of responce (and patience on my part  ) I went ahead and purchased one. It is from AllStar Performnace http://www.allstarperformance.com/product.htm?prod=599&part=ALL11170&add=no. My cost was $112.00 w/ taxes from JMS Motorsport http://www.jmsmotorsports.com/catalog-viewer?cat=61. this was less then the $130.00 it would have cost me to get the Speedway reamer delivered to my door. And it looks to be of better quality.I am willing to pass it along for a reduced price (say $80).
As has been mentioned else where in this post it is very simple to do. The reamer has been marked for depth, for a miata (323) balljoint (no exrta charge  ). If your interested let me know.

Thought I would resurrect this old thread to see if there is a 7 degree (1.5" per foot) tapered reamer out there I could rent, borrow or buy cheap. I need to do a little touch up on my Mustang II spindles, so plan to ream the ball joint seats by hand. Please PM or email me if you have one available. Thanks.

Roy, thanks for your generous offer. Much appreciated, but I bought a "gently used" reamer from another forum member earlier today.
That's what I like about this forum, a great community with so many members willing to help out.
