Randy,
I didn't get any pics because he wanted to keep it under wraps untill done. They basically cut everything off the wagon except for the bottom sill, firewall, kick panels and front windshield frame, while it was supported on a table but not on its wheels. They then built a tube chassis all around the upper section. They used everything except the struts and axles. They made longer A-arms and axles to give them more offroad travel.
The beauty of this approach is that it is still a 94 Subaru, available in 6300 junkyards across America. I will try and get a hold of them.

Sometimes, I'm as confused as a baby in a topless bar.
My short term memory is absolutely horrible and so is my short term memory.

honda b16, better ones have 170 ponies, distributor and can be run on bike carbs, or go the whole hog and use a h22a with a t27 turbo, external waste gate, 750cc injectors and a sniff if gas, like i did in my mini clubman roadster. oh and the honda gearboxes are cable operated.

The question ,what would be a good donor ? Not looking for a lot of power. Something in the 90 to 120 Hp. range ? I'm just not very familiar with what is out their.
Car will be a support/ recon vehicle for my RV. Getting food, see the sites.
I have been looking a the the Poliars RZR and may go that way ? But just can't see not building something ! What a dumb ass ?![]()
So, thanks for the help !
Randy
I'd say go with something you're familiar with, and also common for parts. I really like the toyota 2ZZGE engine. This engine came in the toyota Corolla, Celica, Matrix, Pontiac Vibe, Lotus Elise, Exige, RAV 4, the list goes on. the intake manifold faces forward, and exhaust manifold faces rearward. 173hp to 180hp 11.5:1 compression ratio, and offered in a 6 speed manual.
Plus the benefit of modern fuel injection and coil over plug makes it easy to tune and drive every day--even in very cold starts unlike a carburetor. Every autozone/advanced auto/napa/oriellys, and so on would have Toyota parts.
Also the supercharged Ecotec from a Cobalt SS, or a 2.3L Mazdaspeed 3 turbo DISI (280 ft-lbs of torque) would be scary fast in a featherweight middy Locost.
There is no such thing as mechanical failure, only a lack of attention to detail.
