Re: scuttle welded to chassis?
My scuttle is just a wrapper that sits on the dash hoop and a forward bulkhead. There are two flanges welded on the interior of the frame. The wrapper has a flange on both sides to match the flanges on the frame. There are (4) 1/4” bolts through the flanges (with fender washers on the top side). Easily removable - just a few minutes to pull the bolts. See picture below. Page 13 of my build thread shows more detail of how it’s put together… viewtopic.php?f=35&t=17715

So, the outside skin just rests on the scuttle frame and it is bolted down, only at the bottom with 2 x 1/4 bolts per side?

Correct. The dash hoop and forward wall/bulkhead are ‘shelves’ that the wrapper is pulled down tight against. There are no fasteners where your arrow is.

Wow, that is a great idea. Thanks for all that. I will have to go that route myself.
I still don't understand one more thing, the firewall is at 90 degrees, how the skin sits on it, since the skin has a slight angle?

Yes, though the angle is very slight. The two aluminum angles that form the shelf are very slightly formed with a dolly & hammer. It’s not as much as you might think and it’s easy to overdo it. Take your time and sneak up on it. Scuttle side is easier because you’re stretching the material, hood side is little harder because you need to shrink it. Again, it doesn’t take much, so it’s do-able.
