in the wet you usually take off/disconnect the rear sway bar to put a bit of compliance into the chassis.
i can't wait for the video.

Mr. H-
Good to hear from you Sir, you don't visit Team Slotus near often enough! In this case, there was quite a bit of body roll, which was nearly lifting one rear tire (felt that way, anyhow) and then we'd spin. I've stiffened up the springs on both ends enough to reduce the roll a good bit. This has helped the rear grip, but still not good enough.

As it sits now, the Slotus doesn't have any sway bars fitted. I'm thinking of putting a bar on the front, where there's still a bit of roll, and keep the back end from waggin' around. Probably not until after the next event, in early December. And then I have to fund Santa Claus and all of the holiday fun, and then we'll buy some new stuff for the race car.

We's a-workin' on that video. This whole "video editing" thing is new to me...

Thanks for stoppin' by, Sir!

Yo, Team Slotus Folk-
Since almost none of you asked for it, here are videos from the event on Sunday. Since I figure y'all will get bored real quick, I'm gonna put the best one first...

And here it is, Team Slotus presents: SNOUT VISION!!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJicQLfzMT4

There's a couple more out there, run #5, after lunch, when the track was close to dry, and run 6 when the track was dry but I wasn't.
Enjoy!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_0FDH3OT7o&feature=youtu.be

And will SOMEBODY 'splain to me why I can't get the "embed a video" thing in Youtube or the "Youtube" thing in here to work????

Now, it bein' late and me being tired, I think I'll go to bed. Talk amongst yourselves 'till I get back, OK?
Peace, Love and Youtube-

So this is how Team Slotus embeds videos. Nice view in that first one, like you're going about a hundred miles an hour. Of course the roll bar view runs look pretty fast too. Nice save in run 6.

Hey Andrew!
Well, depends on your definition of "and time soon." I am just not comfortable or confident with the handling yet, even at autocross speeds. Until I get things sorted a bit more, I don't think I want to do a high-speed event. I want it to be soon, but... Budget constraints and time to do stuff are kind of limiting factors, ya know?

I did, however, get the formula for sway bar stiffness from my old friend JK, and I'm gonna get serious about installing a sway bar or two (three?) on the car and see if we can't tame the beastie!

Good to hear from you again, Bro! When you comin' to see us down here in Tallahassee??? We got the Allies -vs- Axis autocross next month, it would be a good time to come down and visit...

On the other hand it might help. Autocross has so much quick swerve stuff it might make handling difficult to sort out, too much twitching. Maybe at one of your events you could try driving in a good size circle for a few laps. Slowly raise the speed and see how it acts. If it suddenly changes that would be bottoming out etc.

You know in your avatar those back tires look half the size of your fronts… It's probably just the lighting though.

Maybe you need more British parts?

Yo, Marcus!
Good hearing from you, Bro! I thought you'd forgotten us poor slobs at Team Slotus now that you've got your own build log, with the chicken wire fence around it...

Yes, good point about the constant transitions of autocross. It's hard to even realize what the chassis is doing at the frenetic pace of an autocross. Honestly, the GoPro videos have been really useful for that. I look at the angle of the UCA against the nose cone to decipher how much roll I've got! Real often, when the arm gets as high as that "in between" section of the nose, around goes the car! Tell me that ain't scientific! :ack: A skid pad exercise might be just the thing!

I see what you're talking about in the avatar picture. I promise you that both ends of the car had the same size wheel and tire. 23.5X10X15 on steel wheels that TWWTFM masked and painted her-own-self. I have pictures of that to prove it.

British parts??? HEYYYY!!! I'd know that butt anywhere! It may be wearing the Union Jack, but it ain't British! Pure corn-fed Southern Boy's Butt there... Heehee... You musta looked wwwwwaaaaaaayyyyy back in here to find that pic.

Maybe I can set up an impromptu skid pad like you suggest next time we have an autocross. It'll be in early December. Come on down!

Peace, Love and "British Parts"-

WARNING! NON-AUTOMOTIVE AND TOTALLY SHAMELESS PLUG FOLLOWS!
If you are they type that is easily offended, well, first of all you're in the wrong damn place to begin with, go read somebody else's build log, and second of all, stop reading this post right now.

I don't know iffen any of you were actually thinking of giving ME anything for Christmas, and Lord knows I haven't been good enough to deserve anything, but... Instead, why doncha buy somebody that really needs a goat a little something four-legged for Christmas? (NO, I didn't mean James!!!) Give these folks 20 bucks or so, they'll put it to good use, and you can feel good about too!

Uhhh, Carguy... They don't give gifts to the heifer. In this case the heifer is the gift.
Look on the bright side, perhaps they'll send her somewhere far, far away!

Tom, it is my pleasure to report that all the folks that had a betting pool going on how far I'd go in the Slotus before I shat me-self  have been sorely disappointed. No underwear was ruined in the making of this car... YET...

Now quit worryin' about my panties and go buy some poor kid a goat!

Now we know your secrets, you wear women's underwear instead of boxers or briefs. The reason no one has won yet is that the betting pool said you'd decorate your BVDs and you don't even wear BVDs.

I've got to go back and look at some of the pics you've posted of yourself and see if women's panties are the only womanly type apparel that's apparent.
