1959 Locost tribute car
My car has been done since september of last year but I've been busy getting a new hip and building a new shop. My little tribute car was a hit at the British Invasion car show at Stowe VT. Real smart building a whole new state-of-the-art workshop AFTER building my car.

Re: 1959 Locost tribute car
Congratulations, JD! I guess there hasn't been to much driving weather lately, but the car still looks like a lot of fun just sitting there. When can you get back in it? And what's next on the build plan?

Re: 1959 Locost tribute car
The wire wheels and curved rear fenders look great! You have done a great job.

They have regular car shows and special British car shows at Larz Anderson museum in Brookline Ma. all summer. I think they have a special weekend just for Lotus cars, because one day I saw a Lotus 11 drive by my house, on the way home presumedly. It's a nice place to visit with many acres of surrounding parkland...
We probably have enough completed cars to gather at one of these shows and have a BBQ or cookout. It would be fun.

Yo JD!
The car looks great! Looks like it just stepped out of 1959... Very nice!
Well done, Sir, well done!

As I've said before, congratulations. I still smile when I think of the "Santa & presents" photo you posted last year.
From the quote above, I sense a new project in your future.

 Cheers,
Lonnie
Damn! That front slip angle is way too large and the Ackerman is just a muddle.

Re: 1959 Locost tribute car
Future builds?
My daughter is getting married in my barn. I have to build four 6 ft. dia chandeliers using canning jars to go the length of the space. I also need to wire the whole place, landscape and do whatever I'm told. That's AFTER I rebuild my tractor motor.
After that I plan on learning to use my new english wheel, stretcher and shrinker. I may try to make a real aluminum nose and fenders for my Locost. We'll see.

Re: 1959 Locost tribute car
My wife just finished making the interior. Given that she is a physicist, I am very lucky that she can also sew. Notice how my big butt has already stretch the bottom seat, while hers (she weighs a hundred pounds less) looks untouched.

Re: 1959 Locost tribute car
Yup, that looks like some definite "triple cheek" imprints there to me. I think that's the facial equivalent of a double chin, right?

That's is a very nice job on the upholstery, however. The more I see you car, the more I like it. I really like the (even more) retro look with respect to a typical Locost, which I like a lot already.
Cheers,

Given that she is a physicist
Wow! That means she can do rocket surgery, right? Very cool...

Re: 1959 Locost tribute car
This is really a work of art. The wheels are fantastic. Where did the windshield come from? The whole package is very sweet!
