Terry's 525hp Subaru AWD Exotruck

Here is where the build logs go for non-traditional build logs. Mid-engine, three wheelers, you name it. If it's not your typical Locost it goes here.

Wind Chill factor corrected temperature.

Aka 32°F air temp, feels like 25°F.

That's my guess, and I'm stickin to it!

Congrats on getting that through enhanced inspection Terry!

Pulled my exhaust all apart last night to redo munts in rubber. I was getting a irritating vibration at 80mph (normal pittsburgh cruising speed) So naturally i thought i screwed up a driveshaft angle or something and it had me paranoid for days. As i drove it more i noticed the vibration was more rpm dependant than speed dependant. It was showing up under moderate load in the 3300-3500 range. So a couple nights ago i decide to remove the muffler section and go for a drive to see if maybe muffler resonance was the cause. Turns out it was. My thoughts are that it was acting like a tuning fork being a dual setup and hard mounted shaking the chassis. With muffler removed the vibrations were gone. A quick needle bury also assured me my driveline is up to the task of smooth ride.

I havent driven it yet but I assume this should fix it. The middle section of exhaust is still solid mounted because of clearance. If any noise still transfers, i can add another bellow before the hardmount

Some people never have anything except ideas. Go do it.
Emissions & fuel economy haven't exactly been areas of strength for past rotary power plants, but absolutely no one with a soul has ever cared.

I hope it takes off quickly, that left rear tire looks nearly flat...

Cripes, it *is* a Matador! At first glance I thought it was this car... plane... whatever:

So, Matador jokes aside... Did you buy a wing, or is it also "home built"? Where'd you buy it, and/or who designed the airfoil? I might want to copy-cat your technique either way.
Thanks-

Careful guys. First it will be wing size then next it could devolve into Chaparral 2J style sucker engines! Where will it end?

Cheers,
Damn! That front slip angle is way too large and the Ackerman is just a muddle.

I bought a cheapy off ebay since im using it more for looks than function. All my aero will be undercar stuff. But the ebay wing is crap and super flimsy, even after filled with expanding foam. So in the spring i'll be swapping it out with a Battle Aero unit. The 62" Force 1 in FRP isnt a bad deal for "actual" wing/airfoil deck

Well, I'm catching up on your log today.

So, #1, that was a great pratt fall in that driveway video. Were you in your jammies? It sure looked like it. Slippers too?

#2, I see you've started "horrifying" your children early with your "crazy dad" behaviour. Good for you. Don't save it all until their teenage years. They don't take it very well then. Giving them a little bit at a time is good.

#3, what happened to engine and transmission 1?

Cheers,
Damn! That front slip angle is way too large and the Ackerman is just a muddle.
