Anyone in Houston - Test Fit?

Been reading on here for a couple weeks & am thinking about diving in on doing a full DIY.

Wanted to get a 'test fit' in a completed car before getting started, just to be sure the fit is good. I'm 6'0" 160lbs, so I don't forsee a problem, but just want to be sure.

Anyone in the Houston area (I'm in N Spring) available for a demo/test fit?

If you have trouble finding someone local, you can always mock it up in wood.

6 ft and 160 lbs can easily fit in a "book" chassis. A driver 6 ft and 200# plus fit in my car with tilt steering. Shoe size/type seems to be a more of a factor in many builds. That being said, there are so many variable in builds, that a test fit in one persons car may feel too tight while somebody else's build using the same chassis size you might float around in. I know this doesn't help. For clarification, re-read the first sentence and start your build. We are here to help even though this post may not help you much.

Thanks, I'm in a 9-9.5 shoe, so probably not a problem there. With how custom these seem, compared to a Caterham I guess, it's easier to tailor make it to suit.

Remember, you can build a wider chassis (e.g., McSorley 442) and or narrow the tunnel. You should be fine however, with a size 9-1/2 shoe in a standard chassis (Haynes or Champion).

I'm narrowing my focus to a Miata-based build, so I'm going to need to figure out which is the best chassis for that, getting on the lookout for an NB1, unless an NC makes a good donor, as they're much more plentiful.

But, it'd still be nice to meet a local or two

There are multiple plan sets (most free) for Miata versions of the Haynes Roadster. It is also larger that the Champion (Book) chassis and you would fit for sure. It was also engineered to a higher degree.

Yes, that's one set. There are others too, but I'm not familiar with them. My build is a one-off.

Found a copy of the VoDou plans.
Just need to find a suitable donor & go from there.
