New Miata based single seater kit

Post by FieroReinke »

New miata based single seater kit may be coming tonus shores. I love the idea but can't afford more than two toys.

I was thinking about building a similar type car a couple years ago. Build a narrow, long engine bay locost type frame. Use Sq 1 1/4" main tubes. Then power it by an older Buick straight 8, behind a modern 5 speed. After trying to find engine parts for a 50 yr Buick, I realized almost 50% of the rebuild parts would have be custom made, i.e.; pistons and valve train. Not a lot of demand for hot rod Buick straight 8 parts. It quickly got to rich for my blood. davew

Part of me is bugged I didn't come up with the idea, but the other part of me would take a pass on it because it doesn't seem all that safe, and I want two seats. These things must be shared.

Beautiful car, but don't know how i feel about the "fake" exhaust. I'd say just embrace the fact that it's a 4-banger.

I still would make space in my shop for it if i happened across one.
Cheers,
Logan

Interesting business model. They are just getting started and want a 75% deposit up front. So that's about 10k USD. For a startup feels pretty risky.

A common means of "Boot-Strap" finance, and apparently well accepted these days as Tesla has been doing pretty much the same for a long time.
Not sure it will go as well for a company not getting Gov. subsidies and fawning Media support.
