Type 4 engine buggy with a center mount carb has the dreaded "Flat spot" just off idle.
This mostly comes down to two issues.
Lack of a vacuum advance distributor, and a cold long runner intake as it gets no heat from the engine.
Distributor is a simple change, but a heated base is not.
I clearly remember the old Pinto?, Vega?, Datsun? having an electric heating element that fit under the Weber DGAV/DFEV two barrel progressive carb.
One of those would be a great addition to the buggy, particularly in winter.
I just need a reminder for what car used it, and to then find one.
If I must be a one-man PC free zone, so be it!

Same problem....Beck Development manifold with divided plenum helped .Still flat/bogged off idle....Went to .8mmidle pilot jet and much better , although smells way rich...I have no intake heat due to mid-engine setup....

May have jumped in too soon...I have a Type 1 upright engine...not the pancake. Beck may not have made a Type 4 manifold...
Also, be sure the accelerator pump linkage is set for max pump shot.

I don't know about a weber, but GM used them in the early 80's on various cars (no webers). You could remove the element from one of those to make a phenolic spacer. It's called an EFE (Early Fuel Evaporator).

GM2.8 V6 with the 2bbl carbs had them. My '85 Jeep XJ had one, so that vintage should find you some options. Looked very much like what MV8 posted.

Not quite the same as what I remember but might work.
Need to check dimensions.
I see threads on-line about replace the original carb with Weber, so that is encouraging.
If I must be a one-man PC free zone, so be it!

You could duct heat from a heater box to the air filter and would have the control cable to stop it when warm. There are electric heating elements available for utvs/atvs and ultralights that plug into 120v or run off the vehicles electrical system.
