Was pricing out an order for a customer this morning and came across these..



for those of you using multiple rod ends - FK rod ends sells these covers. they're reasonably priced and would probably vastly improve the life of your rod ends. They're also reusable.

What kind of lifetime do you normally expect from rod ends? I have over 20K miles on the car, and the joints in the rear might be getting a little loose. When the car was new there was a slight tramping when backing up, now it's more noticeable.

I think its hard to generalize the lifetime of all rod ends in a single response.

you have to take into account the service factor, exposure, climate, rod end construction type, whether or not they are able to be greased, and material to really get an appropriate answer.

for example.. a metal on metal 1/2" rod end in new England would probably have a substantially lesser life than a PTFE lined 5/8" rod end on the same car in Florida.

MSRP is something like $80 per 6 pack. Poly Performance has them for 1/2 5/8 and 3/4 in' for ~$30 per 6 pack. summit also carries them for more dollars.

The part number is RERS 3. you can find them by searching FK rod RERS.
